Mrs. Amato has taught on the high school level and has been involved with primary-age children for over six years. Teaching is a great joy for her, and she loves learning new ways to instruct others. Her goal for each child is that he would come to know Christ personally in salvation and be changed to greater Christlikeness through his understanding of the Scriptures. "I thank the Lord for the opportunity to teach His Word to such moldable and precious young lives. I am also grateful to the Lord for enabling me by His grace to work in such a ministry."

After graduating from Bob Jones University in 1987, Cynthia Bullock went on to teach history in Virginia, Michigan, Florida, and North Carolina. It was in Michigan that she met her husband, who was the math teacher in the Christian school where they served together for 17 years. They have four children, three girls and a boy. She took ten years off to stay home with them since three of the four are profoundly deaf. When they mainstreamed into a normal classroom, she returned to the classroom. The Lord led her here to BJU Press Distance Learning in 2011. “I'm so excited about having your child as my student. Thank you for giving me this opportunity to serve you by coming along side and lightening your load.”

Dr. Garry Conn grew up in a Christian home and made his own profession of faith at a Christian camp in southern Ohio at the age of nine. Dr. Conn’s own interest in math was influenced by his high school geometry teacher who enjoyed teaching and made the class enjoyable for the students as well, even those that did not like math. Dr. Conn graduated with a BA in Bible Education with a minor in math from Bob Jones University, an MAT in math from The Citadel, and an Ed.D. in curriculum and instruction from Bob Jones University.

Mrs. Dunn loves children and enjoys teaching them to explore new concepts. "My goal is to encourage spiritual growth as students prepare for the future. Learning is a lifelong process, and I hope to communicate the importance of learning to your student."

Mrs. Carrie Finney has wanted to teach math since ninth grade. The Lord gave her a desire to use teaching as a means of ministering to young people. With that goal in mind, she attended BJU, completing a BS and a MEd in Math Education. As a graduate assistant, she served with BJU Press Distance Learning as an assistant with Geometry, Precalculus, and Algebra 2. She looks forward to having a part in developing prepared servants of Christ. Carrie's favorite verse is Psalm 18:30.

Mrs. Franklin has worked with children from primary through high school. She loves teaching and is excited that the Lord has given her the opportunity to serve in this ministry. "My goal is to instill in each child a love for learning and to teach truths about God at the same time."

Miss Goins has just completed a masters degree in history education. Her interest in history began in high school. "I realized that there was more to history than just what the textbook included. My favorite part of a history class was the research project, where we could choose our own topics and do as much research as we wanted." In college, she studied a variety of phases in history, but her favorite courses were in World History, especially Western Europe. Her goal for her students is to see that history is much like a good story. It tells of God’s working in peoples’ lives, using even the most unlikely of people as His instruments. Historical events are not just things of the past to be pushed aside; they are actual incidents from which students of today can learn. Isaiah 46:9 gives us the main reason for studying history: "Remember the former things of old for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me."

Bill Harmon has loved science for as long as he can remember. After completing his B.S. in Chemistry, he returned to Florida where he gained experience teaching a variety of subjects: science, math, Latin, and computer courses. Now he works as a chemist in the Safety Services Office at BJU, teaches Distance Learning Physics and Algebra, and teaches Chemistry at Bob Jones Academy. He is currently pursuing an M.Ed. in Secondary Education. He and his wife Mary Ann have two children, Brian and Janette. His favorite Bible verse is II Timothy 3:14.

Mr. Kopp grew up in an unsaved family and trusted Christ at 16 years of age, putting the much-needed perspective in his life that had been so miserably absent. Since then, he has been devoted to the Word of God. Reading, studying, teaching, and preaching God’s Word have been a passion, whether teaching fifth-grade Sunday school classes, preaching at youth camps, starting churches in Kenya and Ireland, or teaching Bible in college. "The fruit of all Bible study is to know Christ more intimately, love and adore Him more completely, walk with Him more faithfully, and live for Him more passionately. My goal is to help your student know the facts and stories of the Bible in such a way that Christ is the obvious focal point. I pray that my students will see Christ and be excited about a life of commitment to Him, joyfully exemplifying the heart of Christ when He said, ‘Not my will, but thine, be done.’"

Mrs. Lawson previously taught kindergarten for four years. "One of my goals in teaching is to help your child feel successful at his present level and to encourage him to improve. Throughout the lessons, we talk about simple yet extremely important concepts, such as ‘God made me special,’ and ‘God gave me the Bible.’ I enjoy talking about these things with the children through the lessons. I wanted to be a teacher from the time I was a little girl, and I’m thankful to the Lord for letting me teach your child through this Distance Learning program."

Miss Martini thoroughly enjoys reading and is excited about the opportunity to teach American literature and to share her love for the subject. "Ever since the fourth grade, I’ve never been more than a stone’s throw away from a book. During high school, my English teacher channeled my love for reading into a more disciplined approach which allowed me to glean much more from my reading. My goal for my students is that, even if they do not ‘love’ reading, they be able to develop the skills necessary to understand and explain the literature for themselves. These skills will allow them to develop a discerning eye toward whatever material they read. More importantly, my desire is that they apply these literature skills to their own personal Bible study. The Word of God can come alive to them in ways that they might not have experienced before taking this class. Having just completed the study of the elements of literature, it is now time that they begin to understand what the literature is saying and the purpose the authors had for their writings."

Mr. Manuel Mendoza is excited about the privilege of teaching students the Bible. He accepted Christ as his personal Savior at the age of 14. It wasn’t until he was 21 years old that he knew the Lord’s calling for his life was to preach His Word. "The Bible can convert the soul of the unbeliever, and it cleanses the soul of the believer. The Bible is important for our times, and, therefore, it must be taught accurately. For me, teaching the Bible is a great joy and privilege. My desire is to help guide your student through a life that is pleasing to Jesus Christ. My goal is for the student to strive for holy living by developing sound convictions based on God's Word."

Mrs. Nason has taught on the elementary level as well as on the high school level. She believes teaching children is one of the most rewarding jobs. "The reward comes when you get feedback from students communicating to you that they understand. The best part is to see the growth in their lives, not only intellectually but, more important, spiritually. It is a wonderful privilege to be able to teach for BJU Press Distance Learning."

Miss Pringle's interest in literature began at an early age through her mother's almost daily reading aloud of good literature as a part of her family's school day. The past 10 years of focused study and teaching in the disciplines of Creative Writing and English have increased Miss Pringle's delight and enthusiasm in analyzing and evaluating all genres of literature. “Everyone loves a story. A well-crafted story, poem, essay, or drama delights me on several levels, but it's the benefit of gaining an increased understanding and appreciation of God's inspired literature, His Word, that motivates me to apply and grow in my own literary analysis skills and to do my best to instill in my students a similar desire for and delight in literature. It's my prayer that as we enjoy great literary works together we will be inspired to love and pursue God's truth presented in His greatest Book of literature.” "

Mrs. Schaffner has previously taught all the elementary grades. "I grew up on the mission field of the Netherlands. I have wanted to be a teacher from the time I was nine years old. I am grateful to the Lord for allowing the desires of my heart to become a reality. BJU Press Distance Learning is giving me a chance to teach children like yours in parts of the world I may never visit."

Mr. Dick Seeley understands science, and he understands high school students. While earning his BS in Science and his MS in educational Administration and Supervision from Bob Jones University, he has invested 69 semester hours in science-related fields. Mr. Seeley has 35 years of teaching experience, including physics, chemistry, biology, physical science, and math at the secondary level. In addition to teaching with BJU Distance Learning for 11 years, he has also worked as a textbook author for BJU Press.

Dr. Seibert has over 15 years teaching experience in Christian education. She has grown up desiring to be a teacher, and she desires to instill in her students a love for learning. Her main goal in teaching grammar is to show how English follows a logical pattern. God’s Word states that "knowledge is easy unto him that understandeth" (Proverbs 14:6). Gaining knowledge is hard when a student does not understand what he is trying to learn. Therefore, understanding is the key to gaining knowledge. In teaching literature, Dr. Seibert desires to show the beauty of the English language in written form. The literary concepts of metaphors, allusions, symbols, etc., increase not only the enjoyment of a written work but also the impact of the message.

Sherri Vick previously taught various elementary and junior high grades. "I like to look at the picture as a whole—to relate one subject to another so that the child can see how God’s plan fits together. I want the child to want to learn, so the lessons have to be fun. Hands-on is the best way, so I don’t want the student to just watch, but participate too! One of my goals is that, after watching the lessons, your child will continue in the things he has learned and develop lifelong learning skills that he can use both now and in the future."

Mrs. White enjoys working with children. She has worked with children from a variety of age groups in different aspects. "I have always wanted to teach, and I’m thrilled with the opportunity of teaching your child. I hope that your child will enjoy learning as well as develop a love for God and His Word."
